Here come the Belle Tire Bombers
The Metro Detroit Sled Hockey (MDSH) Program
The Metro Detroit Sled Hockey started in 2019 with a group of kids who loved to play recreational sled hockey, but had a desire to learn the skills needed to play competitive sled hockey. Since a competitive sled hockey team did

not exist in Metro Detroit, we came together to create Metro Detroit’s first competitive youth sled hockey team.
These children all have disabilities that do not allow them to play traditional hockey. For most of these children, sled hockey has become their identity and they are all eager to compete. They no longer see themselves as different but true athletes. Because of sled hockey, they are able to play in a sport that drives them to be great. When they get on the ice, there are no disabilities, limitations or inequalities, they are only hockey players, capable of anything they set their hearts and minds too. Our team, Belle Tire Bombers, is 13 players strong and growing, with ages ranging from 5-16, some participating in sled hockey for 1-5 years and the kids learn a lot from each other and from the other players.
